Denuo is a sustainable handbag designed to combine functionality, creativity, and environmental awareness. Made from textile waste, the bag gives new life to discarded fabrics through the crazy patchwork technique, where various fabric scraps are uniquely assembled to create a dynamic and expressive surface.

Designed to fit and protect an iPad, Denuo features a dedicated compartment for the device along with extra space for daily essentials. Each bag carries a one-of-a-kind patchwork pattern, emphasizing individuality and craftsmanship while promoting a more conscious approach to fashion.

Behind the Design

Denuo started as my final university project built around the theme of sustainability. The idea was simple, fabric waste is everywhere, from fabric scraps to secondhand clothing to recycled textiles, and yet it rarely gets a second life. I wanted to design a bag that made that second life feel intentional and worth carrying.

The target user was young designers and art students who are conscious about sustainability, people who carry their iPad everywhere and need something functional that also reflects their identity. The patchwork construction was both a practical and visual decision, allowing me to work with irregular cuts and sizes without waste, while giving each bag its own unique visual character.

The biggest challenge was the nature of the material itself. Since the fabric source can vary, every product ends up feeling slightly different depending on what is used. That inconsistency is both the limitation and the charm of the design.

Denuo comes from Latin, meaning anew or once more, a small nod to the idea of giving materials a second life.
