Bona Daily Pouch

The Bona Daily Pouch is a modern, compact carry designed for those who prefer a more streamlined everyday essential. Maintaining the signature handwoven palmyra leaf and leather body, it offers the same elegance and craftsmanship of Du Anyam's classic designs in a smaller, lighter form, that is easy to slip into a backpack or tote bag while still holding all daily essentials.

As part of the design team, Abdur contributed to the research and material selection process, exploring product needs based on market trends and customer feedback. He compiled and presented ideation concepts and color options for review, and worked closely with the sampling team to refine design details, specifications, and material selection through to production.

Behind the Design

The brief came from customer feedback, some people felt the existing pouch was too large for everyday use. So the starting point was simple: make it smaller, but keep everything that made the original work.

I referenced standard commercial pouch sizes in the market to find the right dimensions, making sure Bona could fit comfortably into a backpack or tote without feeling like it was swallowing up the space.

One thing I paid close attention to was the handle. Because the overall form got smaller, I adjusted the strap length so it wouldn't look visually odd or feel awkward to hold, a small detail but one that makes a real difference in how the product feels in your hand. The palmyra leaf panel and leather body stayed true to the original.
