Lipstick Sleeve

The collaboration between BLP and Du Anyam was created to celebrate women's strength and empowerment.

Abdur designed the lipstick sleeve, blending contemporary product design with traditional palmyra leaf weaving by women artisans from East Nusa Tenggara.

Carrying the theme "Be the Strength in You: Empower Through Sharing," this project represents solidarity and the collective spirit of women supporting one another through creativity and craftsmanship.

The collaboration not only highlights the beauty of Indonesian culture but also contributes to sustaining local craftsmanship and economic independence among the artisans involved.

Behind the Design

The idea that came from BLP was actually a lipstick keychain, that was their starting point. From there I developed it into a sleeve form, which I felt was more refined and wearable while still keeping that keychain element.

For the material, I went with leather as the primary, and BLP's identity came through in the color, their signature pink. The handwoven palmyra leaf panel then brought in Du Anyam's craft identity, grounding the whole thing in something more artisanal. The sizing wasn't guesswork either, I based everything on BLP's actual lipstick products to make sure the fit felt precise.

It was one of those projects where two very different brand worlds had to feel like one product, and I think the sleeve does that pretty well.
